March 17, 2020 – What should be partying and lightheartedness of St Patrick’s Day, welcoming spring and business profits rebounding – we are headed full steam ahead to the depths of a worldwide recession.
We know that is where we are going, this time – rather than most recessions when they are waves catching us off guard – guessing the severity, depth or length until we are fighting the results, playing ‘catch up’.. the majority of companies never surviving.
This one, though, is undeniable, and brutal. We know we are all going down, and we know we have no choice. Covid 19 is assuring that.
However – because we are ahead of this bloodbath in business, we have the chance to outsmart it, out maneuver it, out think it and kick it’s ass before it kicks ours in many ways.
Not all ways, not by far. We can’t stop it, but we can be proactive on our own behalf in business and stand the strongest chance of making it through rather than going under in a hurry.
Front burner, our marketing teams, our producers and our strategists – including the best and savviest, leanest and meanest and most brilliant minds who were there to be the ‘go to’ fixers to clean up the last massacres in the economy – firmly on the side of small business to mid-cap in the US and Canada.
In pre-production now, and assaulting this business financial crisis from every side.
The team is elite, we are focused, and we are excellent – but there is only so much time in a day and we expect to be overloaded with companies and advisors needing the kind of power we are bringing.
Now is the time – hesitation is deadly.
It is time to jettison ‘business as usual’ and demolish ‘but that is the way it’s always done’. Those attitudes are the bump against your leg under water as the sharks start circling.
Now is the time for heresy. Heresy is defined as a refusal to continue as usual. Heresy is “to be at profound odds with what is generally accepted” –
And we are profoundly at odds with the belief that there is nothing we can do about the coming collapse, so let’s just let fear win and go on ‘business as usual’.
Business as usual was forever destroyed in Wuhan, China, a few weeks ago.
Are you afraid? That’s good. Are you afraid to be heretic enough to take action on your own behalf, your employees, your clients, your company?
That is the juicier question…
